Easterine Kire is a Naga writer. She wrote the first Naga novel in English, ‘A Naga Village Remembered’ (2003), reissued by Speaking Tiger as ‘Sky is my Father’. Her novel, ‘When the River Sleeps’ won the Hindu Lit for Life 2015, and her novella, ‘Son of the Thundercloud’ won the Tata Litlive Book of the Year (2017) and the Bal Puraskar Sahitya in 2018. In 2023, her novel, ‘Spirit Nights’ won the FICCI award.

Kire also writes poetry and non-fiction. She has written a number of children’s books both in Norwegian and English.
