Charles Chasie is a kohima - based independent reseacher, author, and documentary filmmaker. He was former journalist, editor, and publisher in Nagaland. The author has closely observed, assessed and written about contemporary Naga events as they unfolded. He has also contributed to various journals and publications, both in India and abroad for over three decades and authored, co- authored and edited various book on the Naga situation.
One of his works, The Naga Imbroglio: A Personal Perspective has seen several print runs and has been digitized by Michigan University. His other work include The Naga Memorandum to the Simon Commission, 1929; The State Strikes Back : India and the Naga Insurgency (co- authored) for East - West Centre, Washington and The Road to Kohima : The Naga Experience in the 2nd World War ( co- authored) simultaneously with an international edition. Edited works include Foundations of Naga Peoplehood :Roadmaps and Birds of Nagaland.
Among his documentaries are The Beginning of Life, For the Sake of Tomorrow, and Nagas in the Battle of Kohima. In 2007, he received the prestigious Assam Media Trust Award, and in 2019 the Nagaland Governor's Award in the field of Literature.
