Kangzangding's narrative is simple but aware:
This is obviously a labour of love, where words are crafted with the specific goal of accessibility in mind. Not a mean task where translation is concerned. "Suspension of disbelief", our disbelief, is achieved where talking animals and python-husbands co-exist with humans in a world where abnormality is not mocked and the weak manage to outsmart the strong. It is a delight to see that he has drawn largely from the methodology of cultural translation, where culturally untranslatable words are left in the narrative and explained or
accompanied by footnotes. The profound meanings of the native phrases are gifted to the readers by the method he has chosen to use.
